Madonna‘s musical comeback has been the talk of the web for weeks, but with its football heavy concept – is Madge’s new “Give Me All Your Luvin'” music video ultimately just a four minute long advertisement for her upcoming Super Bowl performance?
It kind of looks that way.
Right away, “Give Me All Your Luvin'” seems to be a desperate plea to “l-u-v Madonna” and watch her during the Super Bowl. The video has a very “television commercial” type quality to it – and not in a good way.
The tune is catchy, but when you’re as iconic as Madonna, it’s pretty sad that Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.‘s rap breaks are more exciting than your song as a whole.
Near the end of the music video, the trio change into Marilyn Monroe ensembles, which contradict the football theme. There are also random shots of anime-faced cheerleaders and Madge pretending to breast-feed a doll. While I will say Madonna looks fabulous throughout the music video, the video on a whole is just confusing.
Hopefully “Give Me All Your Luvin'” doesn’t set the standard for the rest of Madonna’s M.D.N.A. album – and it doesn’t look like it does. Madonna released a megamix for the album that is much more impressive than “Luvin’.”
