Roseanne Barr has announced that she is running for president as a Green Party candidate – and this comedian-actress isn’t joking around. In fact, she first revealed her plans on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno back in August (as seen above).
An avid supporter of the Green Party, Barr feels the Democrats and Republicans aren’t catering to the needs of the American people. According to TMZ, Barr plans to legalize marijuana and have it “sold strictly domestically.”
Barr, who plans to carry out a digital campaign, began by announcing her nomination on Twitter. “I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS. I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice.”
She continued with multiple tweets about her campaign, sharing that if she doesn’t win she will support fellow Green candidate Jill Stein: “I run in support of The Green Party& probably of Jill Stein-hopefully I can be of service by speaking on media about a viable choice4 voters.”
“I will run until the convention in July in Baltimore-I fully expect Jill Stein 2b the nominee& I will support her, but til then-I’ll serve.”
Barr also expressed her support for Occupy Wall Street through the Green Party Watch website, stating, “Both the Democratic and Republican parties are bought and paid for by corporate America and cater to the needs of the highest bidder as opposed to the people they claim to represent. I cannot be bought.”
