It’s been announced that Samantha Barks, who played Eponine in the 25th anniversary concert of Les Miserables, will be playing the coveted role in the film version of the show.
According to BroadwayWorld.com, Cameron Mackintosh delivered the good news live on stage after the Manchester Theatre’s production of Oliver!, which Barks currently stars in as Nancy.
The announcement seemed to come as a surprise to the actress, who tweeted after the show: “Most incredible moment of my life!!!! X” Audience members said “the look on her face was priceless.”
Country star Taylor Swift was originally rumored to have gotten the role of Eponine in the film, beating out Glee‘s Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson, and Evan Rachel Wood.
