The fan sneaks allowed movie-goers to see Part of Me on July 2 — that’s three days earlier than the scheduled premiere date! Along with getting a chance to see the movie first, Katy Cats also received special collectable light pink and blue 3-D glasses, a glow-stick bracelet, and a limited edition pin-up poster.
Part of Me was meant to document an important time in Katy’s career. A collection of backstage video and footage from her 2011 California Dreams tour gave a look into the creative side of her tour and, for those who weren’t able to see the concert live, clips from her performances during the tour were shown throughout the film.
Fans also got a chance to travel back to the beginning with Katy and learn what steps it took for her to get where she is today. From her start as a Christian musical artist to becoming inspired by Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, we slowly see Katy taking more and more control over her career.
Katy Perry showed fans the real her in her 3-D movie experience — the good and the bad. “I’m OK with showing what’s behind the curtain,” Perry told Reuters. “I’m OK with showing that side of me because it helps people relate (to me) better and think of me as a human being.” We see the stress she dealt with flying back and forth during concert breaks to be with her then-husband Russell Brand and eventually the depression that took over when she realizes their relationship is over.
Throughout the film, it is clear that no matter what is going on in her life, Katy Perry always puts a smile on her face and her best foot forward when it comes to her fans.
Katy Perry: Part of Me is currently out in theatres now.
