Jake Epstein, known for his role as Craig Manning on Degrassi: The Next Generation, is getting ready to take on the title role in Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

Epstein spoke to the Toronto Star about his audition for the musical.  “I was totally blown away when it happened,” he said. “I went down and did a standard audition, singing, acting, and stuff, and the next thing I knew I was down in the theatre in a harness, learning how to fly. Just a little scary!”

Jake is no stranger to the stage.  He’s been seen in the First National Tours of Spring Awakening and American Idiot, as Melchior and Will respectively.

According to the Star, Epstein may take on the role of Spider-Man full-time, but will start out playing Spider-Man twice a week and understudying the current Spidey star, Reeve Carney.

Epstein makes his debut in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on December 8.
