Marc Webb, the director of The Amazing Spider-Man movie, took to Twitter Monday afternoon to reveal that Dane DeHaan will play Harry Osborn in the much-anticipated sequel.
DeHaan is no stranger to the silver screen, having recently been seen in Chronicle. According to Collider, he beat out actors Alden Ehrenreich, Brady Corbet, Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, and Boyd Holbrook for the role.
“Dane is an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast,” said Webb in a press release.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will return for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, reprising their roles. Shailene Woodley, best known for her roles in The Secret Life of the American Teenager and The Descendants, will take on the role of Mary Jane, while Jamie Foxx will play the villain Electro.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theatres May 2, 2014.
