Since leaving Disney Channel’s Sonny with a Chance two years ago, Demi Lovato has taken a break from acting to work on herself and her music.  The actress-singer only recently reappeared on our television screens to judge The X-Factor.  Now, its been revealed that the singer will make her big return to acting on the fifth season of Glee.

According to TV Line, Demi joins the cast for a six-episode arc as Dani, a struggling New York City artist, friend to Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), and love interest to Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera).  Demi’s new on-screen girlfriend Rivera couldn’t contain her excitement.  “So excited for [Demi Lovato] to join our cast!” she tweeted.  “Wonder what we’ll get up to in NYC!”

Adam Lambert, another new Glee addition, confirmed that fans can expect to hear him sing a duet with Demi.  “I just heard the news! Excited to sing [with] you girl!” he tweeted.

Lovato makes her Glee debut during part two of the Beatles tribute on October 3, with Glee scheduling film shoots around her X-Factor commitments.  Thursday nights will be Demi-filled with X-Factor results leading into all-new episodes of Glee.
